Wow – it’s 8:30 am on May 31 and the temperature is 37 degrees – fully 30 degrees colder than in Duluth, MN, previously thought to be the coldest place on earth! Perhaps that explains the patches of snow we saw yesterday. And to add insult to injury our hotel, a Ramada Inn ranked #1 on TripAdvisor for all hotels in Ulan Bator, has had no hot water since we checked in.
Cue up the sympathy, please.
I almost had some sympathy for a second there — almost… almost…
But no. Then I saw the murse and the plastic bag things, and I thought, “No. Their lives are utterly complete, even without hot water in a place EVEN colder than my 54 degree foggy home.”
Complete, I tell ya.
I’ll blog this soon, but it turns out UB is the coldest capital city on earth. When I wake up tomorrow, June 1, the forecast temp is 32 degrees. In June!
